Nail Art Pricing [Live]

Hi guys, Okay so let’s talk nail art!

So, coming up to Christmas time nail art becomes quite popular. And come December everybody wants that little bit of nail art. Whether it be a simple glitter or whether they want a full hand of nail art detailed intricate work. So what you need to start thinking about is how are you going to price your nail art? And often it’s really really hard to price nail art because sometimes I’ll just have it in one finger, sometimes they’ll want it on all. So if you get it clear from the start then there is no confusion.

Some clients will expect you just to do it and not charge any extra. But if it’s going to take you longer therefore it means that the appointment is going to take longer meaning that you’re going to be able to book less clients in that day. So we need to be charging them more to make up for that. Now you don’t have to go silly and charge you know £15 pounds for nail art but certainly my advice would be charge for your time.

So you need to decide as a nail tech what your time is worth. Now this may be down to you’re located. Are you working from home? Are you mobile? Are you in a certain area that nails tend to charge a little bit more for? Have you been doing it a long time and you’re doing very intricate detailed nail art? So all of these things you need to consider when you’re putting together your price list. Firstly have it clearly displayed. Now some people will have a nail art section like this and then on the back they’ll have it price per that nail art or they’ll have it on a board beside it. But make it clear for clients before they decide they know what you’re going to be charging. Now it might be something very simple like a little bit of glitter.

Me, personally, I include glitter within my general gel prices. I don’t charge any extra. It really doesn’t take me much time to add it on. But if you have got something a little bit more intricate for example I don’t know let’s think kind of Halloween or we’ve got your little reindeer. Those kinds of things are going to take you a bit longer so maybe you need a book at an extra 15 to 20 minutes, so you might want to charge anything between £8 to £10 pounds extra on top of your price for your gel nails, acrylic nails and so on. So think about some designs to do you don’t have to go too detailed keep it simple so it could be glitter could be some gems it could be really simple stamping and stencilling could be anything along those lines.

Think what’s going to work for you but think about your price. So for me as I said I don’t charge for simple things but I would charge for my time. So everybody’s clear and then there are no problems.
