Exposure to both the bitter-cold winds of winter and the extremely dry air of indoor heating units wreak havoc on your skin. As spring rolls in, it is time to pay a little attention to your body’s largest organ and rid it of the effects of winter once and for all. By giving your skin some much-loved attention now, you will soon be confidently facing summer and all its joys. Here are  ways to revamp your skin care regime for a fresh spring glow:

Scrub It

After spending months covered up, under coats and sweaters, it is time to scrub new life back into your skin. Beginning now will give your body time to generate a new, healthier skin tone. This will not only deliver soft, touchable skin, it will also give you a natural glow. You can do this at home simply by using an exfoliating body wash. Focus on all areas of your body, but in particular, the dry skin around elbows and knees, and don’t forget your heels. But if you feel time has not been kind to you, then explore some spa packages that offer micro-dermabrasion, chemical peels and facials.

Moisturizing

Warmer days mean more humidity in the air. This means that it is time to put away the heavier moisturizing creams that you used over winter. To know what product is best for you takes a little trial and error. If, after apply a lotion, your skin feels tight, then you need a slightly heavier moisturizer. Come mid-afternoon and your skin is shiny and greasy, then you need to use a much lighter product. But if you have oily skin or are prone to acne, then over spring, avoid using a moisturizer during the day. Simply wipe your face with some toner. This will help balance the pH level of your face after you’ve washed it.

Hair Removal

By addressing unwanted hair, the wearing of skirts, shorts, bathing suits and sleeveless tops no longer becomes an issue. If laser hair removal was one of your New Year’s Resolutions, now is the time to commit to it. Starting now gives you time to complete the treatment before we are well into the swing of summer.

Sunscreen

We need a healthy dose of sunshine daily for a variety of reasons, but like all things, too much of it is bad for us. When it comes to our skin, prolonged exposure can speed up the aging process. But more alarmingly, sun exposure can lead to skin cancer. To avoid the drying effects of sun, apply sunscreen products before venturing out. Remember to cover all exposed skin with sunscreen and to reapply it every two to three hours.

Retinol Creams

Many people use creams that contain retinol for its anti-aging benefits. It is also very good in the fight against acne. However, when it comes to spring, it may be wise to adjust how you use it. Retinol can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. It also does not mix well with sunscreens.

Diet

Eating a healthy balance of fruit and vegetables, and drinking plenty of water will help to rejuvenate your skin from the inside better than any cream or beauty treatment.

Revamping your daily skin care regime now will soon leave you with soft, silky legs and glowing skin, ready to confidently embrace the fashions and the fun of life in the summer sun.
